Over the past few months, I've started paying closer attention to sound in my work. It's an area I used to avoid when I was at college, but recently it's become something I've grown genuinely interested in.

On a recent project, we were filming outdoors in less-than-ideal conditions. Despite that, I was able to achieve clear, clean dialogue by researching and experimenting with different sound-editing approaches in DaVinci Resolve.

Below are examples comparing the raw recordings with the finished audio. The difference is subtle but important. The dialogue feels clearer, more present, and more grounded, particularly in the low end.

Filming in difficult environments often means sound isn't perfect on set. In this case, being outdoors wasn't ideal, but it was necessary for the story. Rather than fight that limitation, I used editing to strengthen the audio and support the scene.
